Research & Development

In the year 2000 we started our own research and development activities in ISO 9001 certified laboratories. To cover the needs for in vitro regulatory toxicity testing we developed the reconstructed epidermis model EST1000 and introduced it to the market in 2004. EST1000 is designed for cosmetic and chemical compound testing as well as for basic cell research. We meet the challenge to provide a highly reproducible and standardized skin model in up scaled order dimensions.

EST1000 is established for validated regulatory applications and skin research. It is an ideal tool for pharmaceutical and chemical substance testing such as for skin corrosion, irritation, phototoxicity, sensitization and genotoxicity.

In June 2009 the ECVAM stated that the EST1000 method for skin corrosion testing can be used for reliably predicting the corrosive potential of chemical substances.

Based on the skin model technologies we consequently improve our expertise to develop new three-dimensional in vitro cell culture models for the replacement of animal testing. We do so in cooperation with university institutes and private industrial partners and are constantly striving to extent the fields of application of our human cell systems. At CellSystems we are fostering research partnerships in the area of cell and tissue engineering and we invite scientists to discuss all kinds of challenging opportunities in cell biology related fields. Our team of experienced technicians and senior scientists offer customized R & D contract services.
