Human induced Pluripotent Cells (iPC`s)

Short info

CellSystems offers induced Pluripotent Cells (iPCs), iPC derived Embryoid Bodies and iPC derived Differentiated Cells and their appropriate media and matrices systems for growth, expansion, differentiation and dedifferentiation as well as freezing media.

Induced pluripotent stem cells (IPSCs) are a type of pluripotent stem cells artificially derived from non-pluripotent cells, typically adult somatic cells

Somatic cells have been genetically reprogrammed, that they lose their tissue-specific qualities and become pluripotent. iPS cells are typically derived by transfection of certain stem cell-associated genes into non-pluripotent cells. Transfected genes include the master transcriptional regulators Oct-3/4 (Pouf51) and Sox2, although it is suggested that other genes enhance the efficiency of induction.

Induced iPS cells are suggested to be identical to natural pluripotent stem cells in many respects, such as the expression of certain stem cell genes and proteins, chromatin methylation patterns, doubling time, embryoid body formation, teratoma formation, viable chimera formation, and potency and differentiability. But the full extent of their relation to natural pluripotent stem cells is still being assessed.
